• As from this year, the Monday after Pentecost will be dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of the Church, a new feast introduced by Pope Francis in the calendar of the Roman Catholic Church.

Through this celebration, the Pope wishes to remind all the disciples of Christ, that if we want to grow and be filled with the Lord’s love, our life must be anchored to the Mystery of the Cross, the Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The day was chosen based on its biblical roots. In the Acts of the Apostles (1:14), the Mother of Jesus is present in the Upper Room, praying with the apostles while awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the day chosen to celebrate this feast shows that the Church is inspired by the Risen Christ and led by the maternal and spiritual care of Mary.

This year the feast will be celebrated on 21st May.
