• In the same spirit of dialogue and accountability that motivated the Maltese Ecclesiastical Tribunals to organise the first inauguration of the Judicial Year last January, the Tribunals of the First and Second Instance of the Maltese Archdiocese recently organised a professional development seminar for all judges, auditors, chancellors and defenders of the bond.

The seminar that focused on the dialogue between the psychological expert and the judges, was moderated by psychologists Rev. Prof. Paul Galea and Dr Roberta Holland. They also touched on various issues surrounding the psychological testing and psychological reports in marriage nullity cases.

Besides the purpose of formation, this seminar served as springboard for more comprehensive and mutually agreed-upon working definitions between the psychologists and the tribunals.

In his concluding remarks, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna praised the initiative and augured that such seminars will be held regularly for an improved pastoral ministry towards the people who seek the tribunals’ services.
