  • The ring represents the seal of fidelity of the bishop to the Church, the bride of Christ. In the past, the ring was given as a symbol of honour that served as a seal for official documents. It was represented the betrothal of the bishop to his diocese. The ring that will be presented to Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi during the Pontifical Mass of the Episcopal Ordination is a gift from Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna.

     

  • The mitre represents the zeal of the bishop to walk in the path of holiness. The mitre that will be worn by Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi is a gift from the parish of Ħal Balzan.

     

  • The pastoral staff recalls that the bishop is a shepherd that takes care of his flock. The pastoral staff that will be presented to Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi is a gift from the parish of St Joseph the Worker, Birkirkara.
