• The Church in Malta congratulates Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi on his appointment by Pope Francis as the new Auxiliary Bishop of Malta.

Described by the Apostolic Nuncio His Excellency Mgr Alessandro D’Errico as a priest with human and pastoral qualities, in his first Message as Bishop-elect, Mgr Galea-Curmi said that he will carry out this episcopal mission “with a great sense of service”. As bishop, he would also like to stress the importance of treasuring life by putting love front and centre in our lives. We believe that this message will be central not only in the motto the new Bishop will choose for himself but also throughout his episcopal ministry.

Therefore, in these beautiful times for the Catholic Church in Malta, the Christian community is encouraged to come together to pray for the new Auxiliary Bishop-elect so that inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Lord bestows upon him all the help and power in this new responsibility as he continues to assist Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna in the pastoral work of the diocese.
