CONFERENCE OF RELIGIOUS MAJOR SUPERIORS
The Conference of Major Religious Superiors (KSMR) is an Association of Pontifical Right, constituted as a juridical person by the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life. Since 7th September 1992, the Conference is made up of male and female Major Superiors of their respective congregations present in Malta and Gozo.
The aim of the KSMR is:
- to animate religious life in these islands, in order to promote collective witness of religious life in our society;
- to foster collaboration in the life and work of the various Religious Institutes, while safeguarding their proper autonomy;
- to plan and put into effect common projects between members of various religious families;
- to establish a healthy collaboration with the Episcopal Conference and with the Bishops individually;
- to represent religious on diocesan commissions through a male and female major superior duly elected.
The General Council is the executive organ of the KSMR and is made up of the President, the Vice-President and four Councillors. One of the Councillors is nominated secretary and another one treasurer.
